A feeling of escape with a great panoramic view in an historic former military setting. The area was once owned the Ministry of Defence and has recently been redeveloped into an eclectic mix of old and new buildings into a beautiful coastal estate.

Set off from Uncle Tom’s Cabin at Shoebury Corner and take the gateway leading to the Foreshore Office and coastal pathway through Gunners Park.

Stride round the coastal path to East Beach taking in extensive views over the open estuary. Amongst the various war defences here, there is part of the Mulberry Harbour – a wartime floating quay for navy ships.

Have a nose around the old military town taking in the cricket pitch on the village green, the historic clock tower and the parade ground.

The Shoebury Hotel offers refreshments after which you can take a stroll back through the Gunners Park nature reserve.
